WHAT ARE WORSHIP SERVICES LIKE?

Our worship services are designed to help us connect to God.  We do this mainly with contemporary Christian worship music but we also incorporate other styles of music and historical favorites as well.  We use visual elements and video moments to help us apply the Bible to life.  We always have coffee and a smile to make you feel welcome and an opportunity for personal prayer following services.

WHAT ARE THE PEOPLE OF THE CHURCH NEXT DOOR LIKE?

The Church Next Door is a vibrant, multi-generational, community church with families from a wide variety of backgrounds many parts of the world.  One of the great things about Columbus is there are people from many places living here, our church is a reflection of the community.  We have people from the WWII generation as well as those starting to raise families.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

With our casual atmosphere and people all kinds of back grounds and cultures, we have people that were everything from jeans to suits and traditional African Dresses.  We want you to be comfortable, but come to honor God.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR MY CHILDREN?

The Kid's Next Door ministry is designed for children to learn how to worship God in language and actions that they can enjoy.  We have "Preschool Praise" which gets them moving and singing praise to God.  The elementary age will love Father's House, a worship service just for them.  Our clean and fresh nursery is filled with prayer and love so you can relax and reconnect with God.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY FOR ME TO PLUG INTO THE CHURCH?

It is hard to say which is the best way, but two ways are through service on a ministry team or through one of our small groups. Both of these offer you the opportunity to connect with other people.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A NONDENOMINATIONAL CHURCH?

For us it means that we welcome people from all religious backgrounds or none at all.  We do not want a denominational stereotype to keep people away.  We want to focus on our community without worry about a national agenda or the political aims of a group with which we have little or no influence.  We hold to the truths of historical Christianity, like the Apostle's Creed without building barriers with our neighbors.

WHO IS IN CHARGE IF YOU ARE NOT A PART OF A DENOMINATION?

We have a pastor and staff that lead the day-to-day activities of the church, worship services, children and youth activities.  At the same time, we have a team of leaders, what the Bible calls elders or deacons, that work along side the staff to provide oversight and encouragement to the congregation.  In today's world, there are a host of organizations that provide resources to churches like us, i.e. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Group Publishing, The Willow Creek Association, and more.  These local, national, and international ties enable us to be involved with like-minded ministries and missions without the conflicts that many denominations are facing.

WHAT IS THE APOSTLES CREED?

It is the most universally accepted creed of western Christians dating back to possibly the second century.  It affirms the basic tenants of the Christian faith in a brief form.  The modern English version is as follows:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ his only begotten Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; I believe in the Holy Christian Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. AMEN.

WHO IS THE PASTOR?
Doyle Jackson was called to be the pastor in July of 1998. He has a B.A. in world religions and business from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Later Doyle received his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston, MA, where Billy Graham was the chair of the Board and a cofounder of the school.  Doyle and his wife Jennifer spent their first year of marriage studying the Bible in the Holy Land.  Pastor Doyle teaches from the conviction that a relationship with God through Jesus Christ based on the Bible is life changing and rewarding.
